Course overview

An in-depth look at the course

School First Aid is a one-day course built specifically around the injuries and illnesses that school staff actually encounter — from playground falls and head bumps to asthma attacks, allergic reactions and diabetic episodes. It equips teachers and support staff to be confident, capable first aiders for school-age children.

The content is tailored to the school environment and the realities of managing an incident in a busy setting. Delivered on-site to your staff, it is an efficient way to make sure you have appointed first aiders across the school, trained together to a consistent standard.

Delegates are assessed by practical observation throughout the day, demonstrating the core skills to the trainer. Successful learners receive a certificate valid for three years. The course reflects current guidance on managing medical conditions in schools, including the use of spare ('emergency') inhalers and adrenaline auto-injectors where a school chooses to hold them.
