First Aid at Work Requalification
A two-day route to renew an in-date First Aid at Work certificate before it lapses — refreshing and reassessing your first aiders' skills without repeating the full three-day course.
An in-depth look at the course
The First Aid at Work Requalification is the two-day route to renew a current Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate before it expires. It refreshes and reassesses every core skill and brings first aiders up to date with the latest resuscitation and first-aid guidance — without the time and cost of repeating the full three-day course.
It is delivered at your premises like the full FAW, with all practical equipment provided, so your qualified first aiders stay compliant with minimal disruption. The key thing to watch is timing: the requalification must be completed while the existing certificate is still valid.
What you’ll learn

- A full review of the workplace first aider's role and responsibilities

- The recovery position and managing an unresponsive casualty

Injuries and illness review
- Fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains
- Head, neck and spinal injury precautions
- Heart attack, stroke and other medical emergencies

Who should attend
This course is for existing First Aid at Work certificate holders whose certificate is approaching its three-year expiry and who need to requalify to remain their workplace's qualified first aider. It is not suitable as a first qualification — anyone new to the role should take the full three-day First Aid at Work course.
Assessment & certification
As with the full course, delegates are assessed by continuous practical observation across the two days, supported by short written question papers. Successful learners receive a renewed Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF), accredited by FAIB or Qualsafe and valid for a further three years. To be eligible, the requalification must be completed before the current certificate lapses; if it has already expired, the full three-day course is required.
