Course overview

An in-depth look at the course

The Annual First Aid Refresher is a short, practical top-up that keeps already-trained first aiders sharp between full renewals. The HSE recommends this kind of annual session because the perishable skills — CPR in particular — can fade noticeably over the three-year life of a certificate.

In around three hours at your premises, delegates get hands-on practice of the skills most likely to be needed and a quick update on any changes to guidance. It is a refresher, not a re-qualification, so it does not extend a certificate — it keeps the skills behind it reliable.

Who should attend

The refresher is for anyone holding a current EFAW or FAW certificate who wants the HSE-recommended annual skills update. It is most valuable for first aiders who rarely have to use their training in practice, where confidence and speed are most likely to slip between courses.

Certification

Assessment & certification

This is a skills-maintenance session rather than a regulated qualification, so there is no formal assessment or pass/fail. Delegates take part in guided practice and receive a certificate of attendance to evidence their ongoing first-aid development. It does not renew or extend an EFAW or FAW certificate — full requalification is still required at the three-year point.
